It carries a quiet phonetic echo of 'slower'. The whole app is built to slow you down: fewer profiles, real conversations, no race to the next swipe.
A queer space: dating, friendship, and connection, built around actual intention. Not swipe volume. No infinite deck, no gamification. And safety built in from the start, not something you have to go looking for in settings.
Anyone who's LGBTQ+. Designed by and for queer people. Our founding cohort is Oxford's queer space, with UK cities prioritised at launch.
No. It's for whatever you're genuinely looking for. The point is intention and honesty, not a particular outcome.
Join our WhatsApp Channel, that's where we send actual app invites. We're on Instagram too, for queer history, film picks, and general updates. Get in early and you're a founding member for good: a permanent badge, free access for life.
We're launching city by city, Oxford first, then other UK cities. Join the WhatsApp Channel and you'll hear the moment we reach yours.
It's free during beta. Founding members get free access for life, for helping us build it. After launch, everyone else pays a low monthly subscription, plus optional donations. Never ads, never selling your data, never paywalling your safety.
The minimum to match you well. Identity data is encrypted at rest, your real name is never shown, and your data is yours to delete any time.
Yes. And not as a feature list. Screenshots are blocked, your matches are capped so nobody ghosts a pile of people, how you treat others affects where you show up, and any report gets read by an actual human. It's the whole app, not a settings page.
Not generative AI. Nothing in the app writes your messages, your profile, or a reply for you, and none of your content is ever sent to a generative-AI service. The automated bits are safety checks: photos are screened for nudity and AI fakes, age is checked with an ID and a selfie, and any report still gets read by a person. Like most small teams we use AI tools to help build the app, but your data never goes near them.
Yes, genuinely. Your identity and pronouns are central to how matching works. Not an afterthought buried in settings or a checkbox we added after.
Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and leaving the WhatsApp Channel is just a normal WhatsApp action, nothing to it. Once you're in the app, you can delete your account any time from Settings. For anything else, email privacy@seloa.app.
